Hydrapak Big Sur Hydration Pack

The Big Sur backpack from Hydrapak is a straightforward backpack; nothing elaborate but it will get the job done. We think that the best part of the Big Sur is that Blue Sky Cycling is selling it for $35 – MSRP is $80!

The backpack has three zipper compartments offering a total of almost 7.5 liters of storage and will cary 3 liters of water, or beer. The primary compartment comprises the bulk of the 7.5 liters and also holds the 3 liters of water.  The two other zipper pockets are substantially smaller and are located behind the main compartment. There is also a mesh backing on the Hydrapack Big Sur for added storage that are adjustable with buckles.  These buckles work well for attaching your helmet if you are doing a hike a bike.

Big Sur Hydrapack

Hydrapak has put a waist strap on this backpack, and while it doesn’t look like it will help distribute the weight well, it does look like it would help keep the backpack squarely on your back. This backpack comes with a padded and “vented” back and shoulder straps – though we have never seen venting help reduce the amount we sweat, the padding does make it more comfortable.
